P.O.W.E.R Construction Pre apprenticeships program

Trades for a Difference, in partnership with The Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC), is effectively creating a pipeline of future leaders in the skilled trades industry while providing resources to restore and revitalize the communities that we serve. Clients will receive a Pre-Apprenticeship 7-week Core Program with TFAD/ABC preparatory training that teaches the basics of construction while helping apprentices identify their desired career pathway within the construction industry (Carpentry, Plumbing, and Electric). After completing the Core Program, students will receive 6 industry certifications including an NCCER—certification of Completion, Scaffolding Safety, Ladder Safety, Fall Protection, Flagger, and an OSHA 10-Hour card. Apprentices will go through a series of hiring job fairs with ABC members for employment in their selected trade pathway.

Students will have the opportunity to receive the following:

    Requirements
    -MUST be a PHA resident or Section 8 Voucher
    -Be 18 yrs or older
    -Have a High School Diploma & or GED equivalent
    -Have a strong interest to join the construction industry
